A Simple Cookout Party Menu

For my son's high school graduation party with family and friends, we had a simple cookout with the usual burgers, hotdogs, pork ribs, cold side dishes, and chips. The side dishes were prepared pretty much the day before the party so all we had to do was grill the meat.   It's the season for fresh fruits so here's a huge bowl of grapes, watermelon, honey dew, cantaloupe, and strawberries.   Pasta salad with broccoli florets, cherry tomatoes, sweet ...

Grilled Hoisin Pork Chops

Life is already a bit complicated so let's not make dinner complicated too. Well, at least in the case of this Grilled Hoisin Pork Chops. I mean seriously, it's a 2-ingredient kind of simple dish. This is basically the simple version of the Hoisin Marinated Grilled Pork Cutlets that I already have in the archives. Recipe: Grilled Hoisin Pork Chops Ingredients Hoisin Sauce(just eyeball how much you'll need to marinate the pork) Pork Chops(the more chops, the more hoisin ...

Creamy Bacon And Chicken Spaghetti

I saw a video of a bacon-chicken spaghetti recipe on Facebook the other day so I thought I'd make my own. The spaghetti, not the video. That recipe had spinach though and I think mushrooms too but mine doesn't. I didn't have spinach and I was saving my mushrooms for something else so this is just the basic version, I guess. Still yummy and would still satisfy the cravings for spaghetti with creamy white sauce, ...

#PizzaHut Seasoned Fries: Cajun VS Ranch

Last Friday was Caine's Prom Night so while he was there, Scott and I took Emma to Pizza Hut as promised. She had her personal pan pizza fix while Scott and I got wings and seasoned fries instead. We didn't want pizza since Caine was having a birthday party with pizza the following day anyway. Scott got ranch fries and I got the cajun version for our sides. I wanted the ranch too but I ...

Iron Skillet Red Skinned Potatoes

When my husband was transitioning from the Marines to Army we stayed at his parents house for a few months. It was during that time when I learned to cook some family favorites from my mother-in-law. Her Polish stuffed cabbages are so good. Another one I've learned is this iron skillet potatoes aka potato hash or home fries. This is so easy to make and can be eaten for breakfast with eggs and bacon or ...

Plain ‘Ol Good Pound Cake

I wasn't going to post this pound cake here because the pictures I took were really not that good. I had a hard time getting the right angle. I remember being in a hurry to take the pictures because I was trying to catch as much natural light from the dining room as I can. Then I remembered I really don't have a recipe for plain pound cake in the blog. I do however have ...

2 Seasonings Pan-Fried Chicken

I don't think we'll ever run out of ideas for chicken. There's always some recipe out there for chicken. I'm sure we can say the same for other meat but there's just something about chicken, no? Even the simplest and easiest recipe can make your tummy very happy. Like this 2 Seasonings Pan-Fried Chicken that uses only 2 kinds of seasoning. Hence, the title. Seasoned Salt and Paprika. I used the pan-fried to cook the ...

Spicy Pork & Green Peppers Stir-Fry

When I made this Spicy Pork & Green Peppers Stir-Fry, I was actually trying to recreate the peppery beef and green peppers stir-fry that Scott likes to order whenever we have the occasional Chinese food take-out. With the obvious changes of course. I used pork instead of beef and I made it spicier because I was in a everything-must-be-spicy-kick around the time I made this. Well it turns out, I forgot one thing. The ground ...

Grilled Mozzarella-Bacon Sandwich With Home Fries

I had extra fresh mozzarella cheese from the Baked Chicken Mozzarella so I've decided to make grilled mozzarella-bacon sandwich with home fries for dinner a couple of days after. Aaahhhh, I couldn't stand how good it was. Hello, mozzarella cheese and bacon, plus real butter and really good bread which happens to make all the difference in a perfect grilled cheese sandwich, IMO. I really like Nature's Own bread. I'm sure everyone knows how to make ...

Vanilla Crinkle Cookies

This is the vanilla version of the chocolate crinkle cookies. Paula Deen's version of the chocolate kind uses cream cheese and cake box mix. Either cookies are yummy and the whole family would love them. I didn't bother taking step-by-step pictures for this one so feel free to just refer to the aforementioned 2 linked recipes. With the obvious changes of course, like these are vanilla and not chocolate therefore the ingredients have slight changes. ...

Easy Baked Chicken Mozzarella

The pictures I took of this Baked Chicken Mozzarella are not giving the dish some justice. For the life of me I couldn't find the right angle to get better shots. I was in a hurry too because everyone was hungry and I was trying my best to keep the hot temperature. But trust me, these are good.   Recipe: Easy Baked Chicken Mozzarella Ingredients 4 boneless chicken breast(slice evenly in half) 1 1/2 cup of panko bread crumbs fresh mozzarella ...

Spicy Sauteed Pork & Bittergourd

There are already 3 recipes in the archives for Sauteed Pork & Bittergourd in this blog. Here's one with tomatoes, and 2 for Sauteed Pork & Bitter Melon W/ Shrimp Paste(2). Why am I posting a fourth one? Because this one has no shrimp paste, it's spicier, AND the pictures are so much better than the previous posts. Yes, I'm THAT foodblogger.   Recipe: SPICY SAUTEED PORK & BITTER MELON Ingredients 1 large pork steak, sliced in cubes 1 sm ...

“Bloody” Splash Cutting Board

How fun is this Splash Cutting Board from Foodiggity shop? It's 18 by 12 size and the 'dripping' blood was designed to keep the board stable. Plus, it's just too cool for words. Not bad for a $21.99 cutting board that would give your counter top a playful character while chopping off veggies or whatnots.

Bacon-Wrapped Smokies With Brown Sugar

I ate a lot of Bacon-Wrapped Smokies with Brown Sugar at my sister-in-law's Christmas party last year. These cute appetizers were just too good. It was a hit during the party and thankfully, the person who brought them shared his recipe. If you look at the picture it's really not that complicated to make. I knew then that I am making bacon wrapped smokies the next time there's a get-together at my house or some ...

Pork Sausage & 3-Cheese Lasagna

I should have taken a picture of my kitchen when I made this Pork Sausage & 3-Cheese Lasagna last Tuesday. Not only did I make this oh-so-delicious lasagna, my daughter and I made Valentine's Day sugar cookies too. The counter was messy with sauce and cheese while the baking station on the other side of the kitchen was busting with flour, food coloring, and cookie frosting. Fun Times! Nevertheless, my kitchen and I survived. We ...

Baked Garlic-Herbed & Lemon Steelhead Trout

I was so happy when we found this fresh farm raised vacuum sealed Steelhead Trout from Wal-Mart for about $9. I would've loved to purchase more than 1 but since it's from Wal-Mart we've decided to just try 1 for now and see how it is first. Well, it was surprisingly good. I mean, really really good. I'd suggest you check out Wal-Mart after reading this and go get one or a couple for yourself. ...

Crock-Pot Chicken With Homemade BBQ Sauce

It's winter season. It's cold and let's say it's the weekend. What are you going to cook for dinner that you can set and forget for a few hours so you can spend time with your family watching movies or play a board game or play outside in the show? Crock-pot dishes are the way to go. I made this Crock-Pot Chicken With Homemade BBQ Sauce last weekend and it was tangy, sweet, and finger-lickin' ...

2 Martha Stewart Desserts To Drool Over

Once I wipe the drool off of my mouth from these 2 desserts by Martha Stewart, I will gather myself and make these. First up is this Salted-Caramel Six-Layer Chocolate Cake. And then here's the Pound-Cake Tiramisu which is like my 2 favorite desserts in one. Oh Martha! (Images: marthastewart.com)
