Dear Kentucky Fried Chicken Double Down Sandwich,
When my husband and I were in the drive-thru that one fine day back in September 2010, and he told me to try the double down, I asked, “what the heck is a double down?” in utter perplexity. He quickly explained that you are a sandwich consisted of 2 breaded fried chicken boneless breasts, with cheese and bacon. To tell you the truth, it was the bacon that convinced me to try you.
So I had to wait until we got home to bite into you, the KFC Double Down, a sandwich made of 2 boneless chicken breasts with bacon and cheese. Of course I had to take pictures first. Then BAMM, from the first bite to the last one I kept asking myself, “why the hell didn’t I think of this?” I mean seriously, how hard could it be and how long it took for anyone to come up with such combination for a filling sandwich?
I vaguely remember my husband asking if I wanted you in the grilled way but I figured if I was going to indulge in something greasy, cheesy and 540 calorie-loaded sandwich, I might as well pick you in all your breaded and fried glory. Was it all worth it? Yes. Would I pick you again? Yes.
But how come it took me this long to write this, you might ask. Well, I uploaded you in a folder with the pictures of hot chicken wings that I’ve never really intended to write about again so I’ve forgotten about you. There were times though when I searched for you but just really couldn’t remember where coz I didn’t label the folder right. I tried again last week but I got impatient. I actually thought I deleted your pictures because I didn’t want to talk about your greasiness and cheesiness and the shameful truth that I’ve enjoyed every scrumptious bite immensely.
I’ve finally found your folder so please accept this silly ode to a breaded chicken breasts sandwich with bacon, melted Monterey Jack, Pepper Jack cheese and Colonel’s Sauce as my heartfelt apology.
