When I bought the jar of Nutella last weekend I made a vow (yes I did) that part of the Nutella will be made into cupcakes. I’ve always planned to do that whenever I buy one but it never gets that far. Darn those nutella sandwiches and occasional spoon licking. Well, I finally made self-frosting nutella cupcakes and golly they were so beautiful and delicious.
This self-frosting nutella cupcakes recipe was adapted from Connie of Pinoycook which she got from Baking Bites.
INGREDIENTS:
10 tbsp butter, softened
3/4 cup white sugar
3 eggs
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 3/4 cups sifted all purpose flour
1/4 tsp salt
2 tsp baking powder
1/3 cup Nutella
Preheat the oven to 325°. Lined muffin pans with muffin/cupcake paper liners
Using a mixer, cream butter and sugar together
Do this until light and creamy. About 2 minutes or so.
Beat the mixture after each egg.
Add vanilla, then the flour, baking powder and salt. Continue to mix everything together until well incorporated.
The mixture would be sort of lumpy like it would be hard to pour. Don’t worry, that’s how it should be. As long as it’s not hard as rocks of course.
Use an ice cream scooper to fill up the cups with the batter. About 3/4 full.
Top each batter with 1/2 tsp of nutella.
Use a toothpick or a satay skewer to swirl the nutella in with the batter.
Make sure a little bit of the batter comes on top. Bake in the oven for 20 minutes.
Serve cool or a slightly warm.
Now stop staring and go make your own

you should. let me know how it turns out. i’m sure it’ll be great
Thanks for sharing Dex. Will definitely have to try them out. YUM!!! Were they moist? That’s my one MAJOR hope for all cupcakes. MOISTAGE. Lol. And yes I know moistage is NOT a word. lol.
YUP, they were surprisingly moist. Just don’t over beat the batter. Just enough lumpy consistency.
i made this once years ago, but i used corn flour…now i’ll have to try the real deal! lovely cupcakes!:)
how was the corn flour? did it work?
oh man! if only I could grab one right now!
We love Nutella here so this will be a good snowy weekend activity. Thanks!
OOOOHHH….definitely going to try these!~ Only with gluten free flour since we can’t have regular….Sound DELICIOUS!!
Your cupcakes made me so hungry.. I will definitely give it a try, tomorrow.

Sounds like a plan
I wish I could hand you one right now too
Man, am I getting hungry now.
What does Nutella taste like? I have always wondered and didn’t want to waste the money on it and my kids not like it.. No one in my family eats it
Never tried Nutella! Oh, boy you are missing out. I don’t think my description would do it justice, just try it. I fill crepes with it for a yummy treat. I spread it on just about everything. Try and get creative.
Oh by the way. I have 3 boys who absolutely love it!
Wow this is worth the great try…:)
Hi, this is Ros. I like your recipe. Thank you for sharing.
Stephalicious, just like Shmae said, Nutella is great. Your kids would want it for breakfast if you let them, hehe. Actually, a little nutella and a sprinkle of salt on oatmeal is delicious too. My Husband made a bowl the other day and I enjoyed it immensely until my daughter took the bowl from me to finish it off
.
Better than Peanut Butter..hehe
Hi Ross, thank you for visiting. I’m glad you like my recipe
I got snowed in today (and it’s still snowing strong!) and decided to make this recipe. it was super simple & they turned out amazing! thanks for sharing
I’ll try, thanks !
These look and sound wonderful! Thanks for sharing!
I found this recipe yesterday and just baked my first batch (which is disappearing as I type) they are absolutely delicious!! Very moist and pretty to serve as well!!!
awesome… be safe out there
let me know how you like it
You’re welcome!!
Glad to hear that. Thanks for letting me know
Stephalicious – Nutella is like the chocolate/hazelnut stuff inside the gold foiled ferrero rocher chocolates – maybe even the same exact thing. Delish and very addictive. When my daughter was in France, they used it on everything.
I just looked it up on Wikipedia, and the Ferrero SpA makes Nutella and the candies.
Nutella is basically the same thing as ferrero rocher, also made by the same company in italy i think. I love the stuff! but its so sweet for me i can hardly get through a whole sandwich with it, ill have to try this though! =D
Simple, inexpensive, yet looks sooooooo good! YUMMY! Ywww.yourtimetovent-vei.blogspot.com
You just made me want some nutella! I love this self frosting cupcake too but I don’t think I can wait to make some. I’ll just go get a spoonfull instead.
have a spoon while baking
Your watermark is exceedingly obnoxious. I hereby submit a formal request that you make it smaller.
Cupcakes look delicious, though (from what I can see under the signature).
I was stumbling when i saw this… now im just waiting 20 mins for my cupcakes to take them out the oven
These pictures (and the instructions) were actually stolen and scraped by another foodblogger and if it weren’t for my watermarks, that foodblogger would’ve have successfully stolen them. The watermarks are not covering the cupcakes, they’re on the side. Besides, this isn’t a photography site. If you want to take pictures of your cupcakes and put small watermarks on them then that’s your prerogative. I have mine.
These are one of my favorite cupcakes to make (have blogged about it too before)! I LOVE Nutella
Easy to make, Phenomenal, and impressively pretty. Great for a housewarming gift, and kids love ‘em.
Hi Joey, I remember you
“Stumbled” upon you. Darn that looks good. Wish I hadn’t finished the last jar of Nutella. Oh! I can buy more at the stores.
thanks Claudia. yup, you can buy some more
!!!wow this looks so delicious i am hungry will make them today itself:(!!!
Really great food blog i ever seen, outstanding!
Oooh Nutella, just spoon finished a jar today.
I will certainly make these! YUM!
This looks so yummy! I would love to try it but I live at a high elevation and I’m scared they would turn out too dry
I’m originally from the East coast so this high elevation baking is still confusing to me! I might attempt it though.
Looks yummy! Thanks for sharing
