For our Christmas dinner, we didn’t do the traditional ham or roasted chicken. Hubs found some really nice looking rib eye steaks from BJ’s days before Christmas which made him declare, “we’re having steaks for Christmas.” I had no problem with it coz it meant he’ll be grilling,
.
Before I go through our dinner which isn’t much really, let me show you the appetizers first.
To start us off in the day, I made baked mussels and crab meat & cream cheese canapés. These pretty much served as our lunch. I just kept refilling the platters as the Hors d’oeuvres disappeared.
For the main course, we had the rib eye steaks, mashed potatoes with caramelized onions and green beans casserole. Hubs seasoned the steaks with Grill Mates Montreal Steak seasoning and a little bit of black pepper. That’s about it. I think everyone knows how to make Green Beans casserole, right? Just in case here’s an easy recipe:
Drain 2 cans of green beans, combine it with a can of mushroom soup in a bowl, add 1 cup of milk then gently mix everything together with a spatula. Pour it in a casserole and bake for 15 minutes. Take it out, sprinkle the French onions on top, then put in back in the oven and bake for another 5-8 minutes or so.
For dessert we had my oh-so-gorgeous apple pie
. I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas as well.
