Husband's Birthday Dinner At Home
For husband’s dinner last month (February), he chose to have dinner at home instead of going out. I had no problem of cooking at home for him. It was his birthday after all. Besides, I cook pretty much everyday so it’s really no hassle. Hubs wanted fillet mignon so he bought 6 pieces of fillet mignon himself. I had to think of great side dishes that would go nicely with the steaks. I know my husband really well. He’s a meat and potatoes kid of guy so herb-roasted potatoes was the 1st side I decided to make. Of course, gotta have vegetables. Who doesn’t love asparagus?
When I cooked the fillet mignons, I watched them like a hawk. I made sure they were all cooked perfectly. It would be a sin to ruin fillet mignons. I couldn’t use the outside grill yet so non-stick pan it is. I pretty much just heated up olive oil and cooked both sides.
Hubs likes his steaks medium rare so I watched his pieces (2) closely. Me and the kids are good with medium which is still pink but not bloody
. Here’s the recipe for herb-roasted potatoes. I steamed the asparagus at the last minute. Just put them in a pan with a little bit of water, 2 tsp of butter then seasoned with salt and pepper. Cover the pan and cook for 2-3 minutes. Crunchy and still perfectly green
.
That’s about it. My husband’s fancy schmancy birthday dinner at home. How much do you think this plate of fillet mignon would cost in a restaurant? Expensive that’s for sure. Fine Dining is very much possible to make at home. I also made him banana cake for his birthday cake dessert
.
This is my entry for Lasang Pinoy, Sundays : One Fine Dining theme. I knew there was a reason why I haven’t blogged about this dish yet
. Good thing because I haven’t found the courage to take pictures of our food when we dine at our favorite restaurants. I don’t like other patrons looking at me and asking why I’m taking pictures of my food, heh.

perfect birthday celebration i must say!:)now i like my steak medium rare

Belated happy birthday to your husband!
I know what you mean with the price because when we have something like that at home, we think of how much it would cost in a restaurant and we dig in and feel happy we ain’t paying that much
Belated Happy Birthday to your husband!
