CHOCOLATE FONDUE W/ STRAWBERRIES, APPLES AND ORANGES

We had such a great time partaking in our Chocolate fondue with assorted fruits. First, I’m proud to say I found my first ever fondue set at GoodWill for $3. It was still in a box so talk about a good find. It’s a small set but geez, with 4 of us in the family, how much could we possible eat? Besides, if I ever do this with guests, the sectionals are big enough to fill with fruits or bread whenever we use cheese instead of chocolate, that is. Someday I’ll get a bigger set. The sectionals and Lazy Susan didn’t come with the fondue set btw. The former came with a 2-in-one serving/cake tray that I already have while the Lazy Susan is an accessory to my huge round table that my MIL gave me. Just a small one, I intend to find a bigger one someday.

Anyhoooooo, back to the fondue. The kids enjoyed it. Who doesn’t love dipping fruits in chocolate. You know what they say, everything is better in chocolate :) .

What you need to know in melting the chocolate is that, you don’t actually melt it in the fondue pot. You have to use a double broiler or 2 pots using the stove. 1 pot with water to boil, the other pot is on top with the chocolate pieces and butter.

I used 2 spoonfuls of nutella, huge bar of Hershey’s special dark chocolate and butter. NOTE : I used more butter than that. I discovered during the melting process that 3/4 stick of butter is necessary to have that  smooth and runny chocolate consistency. Like I said, Boil water on a pot, don’t fill it, then on top place the other pot with the broken chocolate pieces, nutella and butter. Keep stirring until you reached desired consistency.

Transfer the melted chocolate onto the fondue pot. By this time you should have ‘em all assembled. The tea candle is lighted and the fruits are placed in their sectionals.

Easy right? Such a fun and delicious dessert that everybody would love. Next up, cheese and breads :) .

TIP : When you pop the dipped orange in your mouth, make sure to eat the whole thing and close your mouth. Lest you want the orange juice spraying the person next to you. And please, do not double dip! :)
